Happy 2nd Birthday, Sophie!

Sophie turned two today and we had a great party at Nonno and Nonna's house in Victoria! 23 family members joined Sophie for the festivities. I'll post more photos later, but for now I'll leave you with just two. Sophie receiving her stegosaurus cake (topped with two great beeswax candles!) and Sophie inhaling her stegosaurus cake. A good time was had by all!

Evolution of a sentence

Sophie uttered these three phrases one after another while we were at the park last night:
They're playing with a ball.
They're playing with a soccer ball.
The kids are playing with a soccer ball.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Sophie wore green (including her new green and white striped socks!) for St. Patrick's Day and I was planning on posting a very cute picture of her. However, she was on the move yesterday and this was all I got before she ran away. Later in the day, she had spilled juice all over her green shirt. Therefore, I present to you the best picture of Sophie on St. Patrick's Day 2009!

Reading with Aunt Kristi

 

Kristi reads with Sophie all the time and I am sorry that the blog hasn't reflected that of late. To rectify this, I present a picture of Sophie and Kristi reading "Urban Babies Wear Black". Sophie, our little urban baby, has memorized this entire book. Favourite pages include: urban babies enjoy architecture and urban babies visit galleries. For many months, this book has been called, "Galleries" by Miss Soph. The book does reflect many aspects of our Kits lifestyle (urban babies do yoga, urban babies jog) but in order to make it a true Vancouver book, I think we need to add a page: Urban babies eat sushi.

This has been a Sophie pose for a very long time. Right thumb in the mouth, left hand twirling her hair. She does this when she's sleepy or needs comforting. I'm guessing it won't persist into adulthood, so I feel the need to document it here.
