Long time, no post

Looks like I haven't posted anything for quite a long time, so I have to get back into the swing of things, regardless of whether or not I have anything of import to say. So here are a few random blurbs.

I asked Sophie what she wanted for breakfast the other day, and she asked for fish. "I really like fish," she explained. We compromised on Cheerios, with a second round draft choice of fish for dinner the next day.

We apparently have seagulls trying to get at that same fish dinner tonight, by means of the oven vent. They must be sitting on the top of the vent, calling to each other, because it sounds like they're in our kitchen.

I just got Sophie a couple of plastic hockey stick blades, and we're going to put them on a few of my old broken sticks, so we can practice her slap shot. She's tremendously excited, and is talking all about how we're going to get a puck and shoot the puck to each other and take a shot and get a goal. She just came by and told me "I want some of my hockey stick."

I think we're almost ready to try the big switch to having Sophie sleep in her own room. We've got all the bedding and whatnot, now we just have to try it out and see how she does.

Sophie has a pirate shirt, a souvenir from our trip to Provincetown, on the end of Cape Cod. She seems to enjoy dressing up like a pirate, like Maisy did in one of Sophie's books. Here's a pic to finish off this post. Arrrr...

Sophie the flower girl

Sophie was the flower girl at my cousin Richie's wedding to his beautiful bride Amanda on August 8th, 2009 in Hopewell Junction, New York. I was busy herding the flower girl, but my Aunt Emmy got these photos of our smiling Sophie as she walked down the aisle. Kristi caught it on video. Many more awesome events happened during our trip out east, but this was definitely a highlight!

Hooray for Aunt Kristi!

Sophie and Kristi spent some time on Granville Island this morning while I did errands in preparation for our upcoming trip. An Aunt who comes by and takes your child for three hours the day before you fly across the continent - priceless!

Sophie likes Zoidberg

To celebrate the re-signing of Futurama's original voice actors, I thought I'd post about what Sophie thinks of the Futurama characters. Looks like Zoidberg is her favourite, just like me! (Thanks to (TLZ) Futurama Madhouse for the images.)

Zoidberg: "That's funny! That thing has pinchers to that blue book that has letters on it. It has things and it has lots of fingers on it nose! Cause it has pinchers and it's a crab. Yeah. That's a pincher crab. That was a funny one. It has lots of fingers on the nose, and no thumbs. He has someping on his feet, and his little toes."

Leela: "That is funny. It's funny. Ha ha uh ha. That's a picture of that. (Noticing the thumbnail of the photo up at the top of the window.) Totally big and totally little and totally big."

Professor Farnsworth: "He has blue things on his eyes. Some black on his blue things on his eyes. He can't see when his blue things are off of his eyes, cause he's got the blue things on his eyes so he... I'm gonna show Mousey how to kick the ball!" (Runs off.)

Nibbler: "That is not a bear called Winnie the Pooh Bear. Someping with a ball. (his stomach) Some lellow shoes - they're lellow. He's sitting on a chair not one of my friend chairs he's sitting on his own chair."

Zapp Brannigan: "It's not Dada."

Bender: "That's one little thing. That's funny how it stands on some. It's not a toy, it's for Mamas. (Tangent about the phone.) It's funny, it's funny, Mama!"

Indeed it is funny, Soph, indeed it is. Looking forward to the new episodes!
