Haircut time!

Sophie's hair pre-haircut

Sophie had frequently been asking for a haircut lately (mostly because she wanted to ride in the airplane chair at the kids' haircut place!), so we took her for her second-ever haircut yesterday.

All done!

We asked the stylist to cut off quite a bit!

Sophie sporting her new bob. She looks ready for kindergarten now (fortunately, we have almost two years before the big day)! She says, "Now, next haircut, I'm gonna be in the car!"

Very deliberately writing a birthday card with alternating colours for each letter.

A Friday ritual.
A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Sophie's style

Yesterday's outfit of choice

Sophie certainly has her own distinct fashion sense. It's often centered on the character she wants to be that day (i.e. orange pants and green shirt to be a carrot, red shirt and black pants to be a ladybug, etc). Other times, she pulls together great colour combos and coordinating pieces. She's got an innate sense of style and I think it really came through with yesterday's clothing choices. If she's already combining skulls with plaid skirts at age three and a half, what will she dress like as a teenager?

Halloween 2010

Happy Halloween! Sophie had a great time this year with both the pumpkin carving (she designed her own skull pumpkin and loved the roasted pumpkin seeds Aunt Kristi made) and her second ever night of trick-or-treating (fortunately, the rain held off and it was a perfect night to be out!). In Sophie's words, "This was a great day!"

Kristi shows Sophie how to get the guts out of a pumpkin

Sophie drew her skull picture and Dean turned it into a jack-o-lantern (thanks to Ohdeedoh's pumpkin carving collaboration post for the inspiration!)

Sophie has inherited her Dad's love of silly faces

This year, Sophie was Piglet from Winnie the Pooh (it took her a long time to decide and various costumes like skeleton, ghost, butterfly, ladybug, pink slug and bumblebee were also discussed)

 Trick or treat!

Our trick-or-treater in action at the Smiths' house. Sophie was a trooper and loved going from house to house. She even complimented the adults, "You guys are excellent at waiting for me at every house!"

Sorting her loot before bed. She neatly took each piece out of the bag one by one and lined them up in rows. When they were all laid out, she counted them carefully and got up to twenty-nine all by herself!

Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Sophie's preschool class went on their first field trip of the year to the pumpkin patch at Richmond Country Farms.
Sophie took no time at all to choose a pumpkin.

Then we checked out the corn maze.

Sophie loved finding all the dead ends in the maze.

The mud was super sticky and I'm amazed we didn't lose a boot!
